What is SunSolve P90?

SunSolve P90 is a software tool that calculates the uncertainty in the energy production of photovoltaic (PV) systems.

It can be used to calculate the P90, the P95, or any other P-value in an energy yield forecast.

SunSolve P90 is designed to work alongside yield forecasting tools like PVsyst and SunSolve Yield. Such tools calculate the P50, i.e., the most likely energy output from a PV system, whereas SunSolve P90 calculates the probability distribution around that P50.

Determining the probability distribution of a PV system is complicated. It requires accounting for the major sources of uncertainty in the weather, in the modelling, and in the operation of the system. The uncertainties might stem from variabilities across systems and over time (yearly or hourly), and they might be asymmetric and/or interdependent, and not easily combined by simple equations.

SunSolve P90 helps make that complicated calculation easier.
